A POPULAR cat cafe in Halstead will now be closed two days a week.

Meow Cat Cafe, in Halstead High Street, opened back in the summer of 2023.

The cafe, which was opened by town mum Rebecca White, replaced the old Les Fleurs building near the top of the High Street.

But it has now decided to close on Thursdays, meaning the shop is open from Fridays to Tuesdays.

A post on Facebook read: "We lasted as long as we could, but Halstead Meow will now be closed Thursdays.

"We are gutted to have come to this however it is no longer viable for us to keep trading this day. Hopefully we can open up Thursdays again in future.

"We will also be dramatically reducing our hours on Tuesdays and re-evaluating the viability of opening Tuesdays too."

The new café aims to offer the community a place to ‘chill out’ and ‘unwind’, as well as giving homeless cats and kittens the opportunity of finding their forever home through a partnership with the Friends of Felines animal shelter.

Members of the public have already adopted 205 cats from Halstead’s café in just over a year.
