HALSTEAD will once again be honouring the fallen for Remembrance this weekend.
It is one of many towns across the district holding events for Remembrance Sunday.
In Halstead, residents should meet in Halstead Public Gardens by 2pm for a 2.15pm start.
There will be a wreath laying, before dignitaries parade up the High Street, to lay wreaths at St Andrew’s Church.
There will then be a service in the church, before crossing over to the small church hall for light refreshments.
All three churches in the Colnes will also be holding services for Remembrance Sunday.
Both St Andrew’s church in Earls Colne and St Andrew’s Church in Colne Engaine will have their services at 10am.
In Earls Colne, the church stands at the bottom of the High Street, opposite Earls Colne Primary School.
St Andrew's in Colne Engaine stands on a hilltop in the centre of the village nearby to the local shop, pub and the Primary School.
In White Colne, St Andrew’s Church will be holding its service at 3pm.
The quaint church in White Colne can be found by taking the Bures Road from the main A1124. The spire will come into view as drivers come around sharp bends on the road.
Other services in the district will be taking place in Braintree, Witham, Rivenhall and Silver End.
Chairman of Braintree Council Lyn Walters said: “As we come together to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom, I proudly join in commemorating Remembrance Day 2024.
“This solemn day serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and selflessness of the men and women who fought in past conflicts, as well as those who continue to serve today.
“Remembrance Day is not only a time to pay tribute to those who gave their lives, but also to reaffirm our commitment to peace and unity.
“It reminds us that the freedoms we enjoy today were hard-earned, and we must never take them for granted.
“Wearing the poppy as a symbol of remembrance, I encourage everyone to take a moment on Sunday to reflect, honour the fallen, and support veterans and their families, ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten.”
