HALSTEAD Town Football club hosted its annual fireworks display giving visitors the ‘best display’ the town has seen to date.
Organised by the town’s football club, the event has run for many years and always sees crowds of locals enjoying an evening of food, fireworks and fun.
This year’s event took place on Saturday evening, with gates opening at 5.30pm and the display starting at 6.45pm.
Huge crowds of visitors filled the event from the beginning, with the football stand, outside picnic tables and a second seating stand available for a clear view of the display.
Light up sticks and other merchandise was on offer for children.
A licensed bar, ice cream truck and on-site hot food hut provided refreshments to visitors, as well as Halstead’s new sweets and ice cream business, Chew It Over featuring in the club’s building.
Co-owner of Chew It Over, and father of two, Tyla Hart said: "It was a pleasure to be to be at Halstead football fireworks."
"We enjoyed being able to provide a sweet treat.
"It was a wonderful turn out for what was a spectacular display.”
The fireworks were set off and monitored by fireworks event caterer, Fury Fireworks – offering viewers the ‘best display’ the town has ever seen.
Bocking resident, Louise Sheehan travelled to town especially for the event.
She said: “My husband and I had never been to Halstead’s fireworks before.”
“We were really surprised at how good the display was.
“It wasn’t just a quick few fireworks, it was a good five to ten-minute display.
“We were both really impressed.”
Neale Road resident and father of football club under 13s player, Kris Fraser said: “I moved to Halstead from Braintree a few years ago.
“I’ve been coming to the display since and have always been wowed by the fireworks.
“But this year was just great – definitely the best display yet."
The event will take place again next year.
