A TOWN football club is set to host a charity football match to raise money for a football-mad youngster with a rare illness.
Halstead Town Football Club is putting on the event next month, aiming to raise money to support local ‘football-loving’ youngster.
Leo Taylor, three, was born with, genetic mutation, KCNB1, causing a spectrum of neurodevelopmental disorders.
The young football-lover suffers severely with epilepsy as well as development delays in walking and talking.
Leo regularly needs costly appointments and physio to assist him.
Halstead Town FC is now preparing to host a charity football match on September 8, with all money raised going to supporting Leo with physio, and specialised equipment to help him "thrive in life".
The event will also hold a raffle to raise additional funds.
Event organiser Megan Sharman said: “He’s the happiest and sweetest little boy.
“Leo currently has one physio appointment under the NHS every six months and private physio is £85 for 60 mins which he needs weekly.
“We are organising the event to help him and his family with the costs."
A GoFundMe page has been set up, for online donations.
Leo’s mum, Hannah said: “Leo is able to stand in his walker and we hope it won’t be too long before he takes his first steps.
“He is still very delayed in his speech, and we are still navigating his Epilepsy but Leo lights up every room and brings so much joy to people.
“He is very sociable and loves a ball. Football is his favourite sport and hopes to one day play in his walker,
“Words cannot describe how we feel about our Leo - he is our Warrior, and he brings so much joy to us.
“He has taught us so much and we are so grateful to the KCNB1 community we found and able to share our experiences."
