A POPULAR music festival set up by a family in memory of their son is back in town.
CozFest makes its return to Sible Hedingham this weekend.
The annual music festival is organised to celebrate the memory of Corran ‘Coz’ Powell, who was just 21 when his car was involved in a head-on collision in Braintree Road, Gosfield, in 2014.
He was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died eight days later without regaining consciousness.
Friend and passenger James Simmons also died in the crash.
It was later revealed the other driver, who died at the scene, was drunk and high on a cocktail of drugs.
To honour Corran, who was a dedicated musician, his family launched CozFest almost a decade ago.
Although it had to be axed in 2020 due to the pandemic, CozFest returned over the last two years and is back again this weekend.
Organiser Gen Powell said: "We have a really lovely selection of stalls including a good range of food and refreshment stalls and this year we are introducing our very own beer, CozFest Quencher.
We have some amazing bands in the line-up, both professional and newcomers, tribute bands and originals including our own personal favourites who have performed with us since the first festival, known as CodJam in 2015.
"We are anticipating yet another personalised message from Michael Padgett of Bullet For My Valentine to be shown on the screens throughout the event and can’t wait to meet the bands that are new to our festival."
Gen continued: "As always, preparing CozFest is a bittersweet experience for the whole Powell family and all the volunteers who give their time, effort and donations to ensure that Coz’s festival is all that it should be.
"Coz was a joyous young man who genuinely believed in equality, individuality, honour, duty and love.
"We really hope that we bring these values to every CozFest in his memory and that everyone attending appreciates and respects the diversity that is the human race."
CozFest is this weekend, Saturday, August 24 to Sunday, August 25.
