COUNCILLORS have marked the grand reopening of a new and improved skate park in Halstead.
Ramsey Road Recreational Ground has undergone refurbishment works to improve the site.
The renovation introduced a revamped layout catering to a diverse range of users, regardless of their skill levels or preferred wheel types.
The new state-of-the-art skatepark features ramps of varying heights, accommodating both novice and seasoned riders alike.
There is now also an expanded play area with accessible equipment for young children, relaxing hammocks for older children, and a modern outdoor gym.
These upgrades were made possible through Section 106 funding secured through the planning process by Braintree District Council from the developer of Oak Road.
The project was guided by extensive community engagement, including focus groups to ensure the new facilities met the needs of residents of all ages.
To celebrate its completion, Braintree Council chairman Lyn Walters, Halstead mayor Andy Munday, as well as other local councillors and representatives visited the park to look at the new facilities first hand.
An official ribbon cutting also took place.
Braintree Council transformation boss Tom Cunningham said: "We are delighted the work to Ramsey Road Recreational Ground is complete and seeing the community enjoying the upgraded facilities.
“These long-awaited improvements reflect our dedication to enhancing the quality of life for our residents.
“Thank you to everyone who participated in the consultation process and focus groups."
A special celebratory event is coming to Halstead to mark the skateparks new look.
Braintree Council is partnering with local volunteers, businesses, and other organisations to host a Skatepark Jam event with live music, demonstrations, and stake at BMX sessions to get involved in.
The event will be on Saturday, August 24, from 2pm to 6pm.
The skatepark at Ramsey Road was the first of three upgrade projects, with further ones coming to Weavers Park skatepark in Braintree and Spa Road skatepark in Witham.
