A 'FAMILY-ORIENTATED' florist is celebrating a milestone for its business.
Juniper Flowers, in Sudbury, has marked its two-year anniversary.
Owner, Lianda Phillips, 31, took over the running of the business in Sudbury town centre in August 2022, after working her way up as an employee since 2011.
She said: “Going from the employee to the employer has been a real learning curve.
“It has been a huge eye opener, but I wouldn’t change it for the world."
Since taking over the business, Lianda and her family – who are all from Halstead – have had many achievements with Juniper Flowers, including being awarded Finest Florist in Suffolk 2024.
The floristry work at Juniper Flowers made a TV appearance last year, when the business was asked, by the family of Lord Andrew Phillips of Sudbury, to decorate St Peter and St Paul’s church for Lord Andrew’s televised funeral service.
They were also asked to create funeral flowers for, local war veteran, Bill Gladden, which appeared during his televised funeral service.
“To see our work on the television was a real honour and privilege to see,” Lianda said.
Though Juniper Flowers has had much success, the business had a period of struggle last year when Lianda’s father passed away.
She said: “We are a Halstead family, it’s always been a very family-oriented business and we wanted to continue that.
“Sadly, we lost my dad last year, which was a huge struggle for us since taking on the business, but we managed to overcome that.
“Helping run the business was something dad wanted to do in his retirement, he would’ve been out in the delivery van.
“We got a new van recently and named it Archie after my dad, just as a little nod to him."
Going forward with Juniper Flowers, Lianda and her family hope to expand their clientele and become more eco-friendly.
She said: “The business is already well-established, but I’d really like to get the name out there more.
“I’d love to become a bigger part of the community, especially with wedding events,
“I’d also like to get more into the eco-friendly aspect of the profession,
“Cutting down on plastics and things to become better for the environment – we want to be as sustainable as possible."
