A YOUNG waterskiier is heading to the global stage once again as he takes on the latest round of national championships.

Seb Turp, 16, from Gosfield, is one of a squad of six talented British youngsters heading to Canada after being selected to compete at the 2024 World Under 17 Waterski Championships.

The competition takes place in Calgary, Alberta, next month.

The squad is made up of five boys and a girl. Five of the skiers will form the GB Team and one has been selected as an individual wildcard.

Alongside Seb is Isabel Cosgrove, 12 and her brother James, 14, from Chalfont St Peter in Buckinghamshire, Harley Coster, 14, from Camberley in Surrey, Charlie Fearn, 14, from Sheffield in South Yorkshire and Harrison Crossland, 17, from Fairford in Gloucestershire.

Seb is a member of a large waterski family, which includes his parents, grandparents and other relatives.

Older brother Ben and sister Tilly also compete.

Dad, Vince, is an international boat driver for waterski competitions.

Seb trains at the family’s base, at Gosfield Lake.

He enjoyed previous success at the British National Championships in Dorchester-on-Thames last August, picking up three gold medals, a silver and a bronze.

He will be competing in slalom, tricks and jump at the event across the pond next month.

The 2024 IWWF World Under 17 Waterski Championships will take place on man-made waterski lakes at Predator Bay, Calgary, Canada from August 1 to 4.
