A CHARITY football match is being held to raise money in memory of a brave boy who died from a brain tumour ten years ago.

When Hedingham School pupil Arran Tosh died in 2014, aged 13, the Smile of Arran Trust was set up to honour his memory.

It set out to raise money to help other youngsters with brain tumours.

A special memorial match will be held to mark the tenth anniversary of Arran’s passing.

Mum Alison Tosh, of Sible Hedingham, said Arran adored football from when he was a toddler and would often kick a ball around the garden with his dad.

At the age of seven-years-old, the popular boy joined and played for the Hedinghams United Football Club youth team until 2014.

Alison said: “He loved his football friends and enjoyed the banter. His dream was to one day play for Celtic, sadly that day would never come.

“He was always singing and playing his guitar.

“He also had a passion for acting, we often wonder what he would be doing with his life now, he would definitely be making people smile, everyone loved him.

“Arran was a loving, caring, happy go-lucky boy.”

After his death in 2015, Alison set up the Smile of Arran Trust, a charity dedicated to making a difference to children and their families whose lives have been affected by a brain tumour.

To commemorate the tenth anniversary of Arran’s passing, the Hedinghams United Football Club’s social committee is hosting a fundraiser on June 2 from 10am to 9pm.

Arran’s former youth team will take part in a friendly match which kicks-off at 11.30am at Lane Meadow, in Sible Hedingham.

There will be a bar, live music, inflatables, games, and stalls to peruse and buy goods from.

Alison said: “The football fundraiser is a fantastic way to celebrate Arran's life, I'm looking forward to seeing all the old team, some I haven't seen for more than eight years.

“We are so grateful to Garry, Kim and the team for working hard to make this day happen.

“They will be making a difference to other children's lives who are living with brain tumours or brain cancer, as well as keeping Arran's legacy going.

“He remains in our hearts forever and is sadly missed.”

Club chairman, Steve Parsons, said: "Hedinghams United are doing a family fun day and honouring the ten year anniversary of the passing of Arran Tosh.

"Arran, a Hedingham youth player, tragically passed away suddenly at the far too young age of 13.

"All money raised on the day will be split between Hedinghams United and the smile of Arran trust.

"During the day, Arrans former team mates are getting back together to take on a Halstead Town team of the same age, many of the Halstead team knew Arran very well.

"So please come join us, raise some money for a great cause, and celebrate and remember Arran."
