A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after being stopped by police for failing to stop while riding an e-scooter.
Two Essex Police special constables were patrolling in Halstead yesterday, May 14, and arrested a 17-year-old boy after he failed to stop when asked.
Officers say the teen was using a privately owned e-scooter at the time.
It's currently illegal to use privately owned e-scooters on the road or in public spaces.
After completing further enquiries into the person, it was discovered he was wanted in connection with a Halstead robbery that took place in January.
A 17-year-old boy from Halstead was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He remains in police custody.
Special constables are volunteer police officers that have the same powers, uniform, and equipment as regular officers.
However, they donate their free time to help people in and around communities across the county.
