A VILLAGE pub is hoping to usher in a new era after it has been reopened by its latest landlord.

The Five Bells pub and restaurant, in Colne Engaine, reopened on Wednesday after a two-day closure to allow for its landlord to put things in place.

The Five Bell’s landlord, Ryan, has signed a lease with RedCat Pub Company, a business which owns a chain of establishments across the country, including the Five Bells.

According to Facebook posts on the pub’s page, Ryan plans to put the pub ‘back on the map’ and wants to work with local food suppliers and other small businesses.

Situated in Mill Lane, the pub is more than 500 years old and still retains many of its features.

It also contains a terrace that overlooks Colne Valley, wheelchair access, events such as quizzes and live music, Wi-Fi, and a car park for its patrons.

Moving forward, Ryan claims on the page that the pub will only be serving freshly prepared meals.

The business is currently advertising for a chef to join the new team and for a painter to decorate the inside of the pub.

The Five Bells is open Monday to Saturday 12pm until 12am and Sunday’s noon to 11pm.
