A MAN who breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order more than ten times has been jailed.
Trevor Day, of Southey Green, Sible Hedingham, was jailed for two years at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday.
The 51-year-old admitted breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) 11 times.
Day had previously been convicted of a sexual offence and had the SHPO imposed upon him at the same court in 2014.
Under the requirements, he was prevented from using social media, using any device that could access the internet or possess a phone not notified to police.
As part of a routine monitoring check carried out by Essex Police’s Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders team (MOSOVO), officers attended Day’s home address on August 17, 2022.
MOSOVO are a team of specialist officers who manage the risk posed by registered sex offenders when in the community.
The team helps to protect the public from some of the county’s most dangerous sexual and violent offenders and are an integral part of the nationwide multi agency MAPPA process which aims to reduce re-offending.
This work includes monitoring and risk assessing of offenders prior to, and after, their release from prison to reduce the risk they pose.
The MOSOVO teams work away from the public gaze and work to keep the public safe from Registered Sexual and Violent Offenders.
During the visit, the team seized five devices which showed Day had contravened his SHPO conditions.
Following this, the Sible Hedingham man also admitted to two counts of failing to comply with notifications in connection with the Sexual Offenders Register and the possession of a prohibited image of a child.
He was jailed for two years.
Detective Constable Carole Currey, investigating, said: “Trevor Day knew he was committing offences that breached his SHPO which was imposed by the court to protect our communities from the predatory nature of the behaviour displayed by Day.
“I’d like to reassure the public we carry out these checks to identify any breach which could place a child or someone at risk and manage the risk that a sex offender could pose.”
