POLICE have issued a warning about driving in cold weather after a driver was lucky to avoid serious injury in an accident.
While carrying out patrols in Halstead and the surrounding area last Tuesday, officers were called to a car which had overturned and left the carriageway on the A131 at Little Maplestead.
Special Constables Mihalyfi and Baker were on scene within five minutes.
Fortunately, the driver was unhurt and had managed to get out of the vehicle before they arrived.
A spokesman said: "Thanks to the members of public who phoned it in immediately as it happened and the gentleman who stopped to help prior to police arrival.
"Please be careful when driving in the cold weather
"With the freezing weather this week, please be careful when driving.
"Whilst Highways do their best to grit as many roads as they can, there will be lots of back roads that will not be."
