A 58-YEAR-OLD care home resident who needs 24 hour care has had a dream come true thanks to the staff at the home she resides in.
Debbie Cooper is a resident of Care UK’s Colne View, in Dame Mary Walk, Halstead, and is now the proud owner of some fresh tattoo work thanks to the team.
As part of the home’s wishing tree initiative, a scheme that encourages residents to put wishes forward, whether it’s helping them reconnect with a hobby or try something new, it turned out Debbie’s dream was attainable.
Her big dream was to get another tattoo, one inspired by her love of flowers.
She wished to get a rose as a reminder of fond memories from when she used to grow them at her home whilst growing up.
Colne View’s team then arranged for Stuart Williams, a tattooist at The Tattoo Room in Sudbury, to visit the care home to create the special piece of art.
Debbie is absolutely delighted with the new tattoo.
She said: “I’m really pleased with the tattoo, and it didn’t hurt at all.
“The detail in the rose is beautiful – it’s turned out better than I could ever have imagined.”
The Halstead resident is looked after by the kind and attentive staff at the care home.
Colne View is a purpose-built facility which provides its residents with expert services for older people, including residential care, nursing care, respite care, palliative care, and end of life care.
Monica Boldeata is the home manager at Colne View and is thrilled this wish could come true for Debbie.
She said: “When Debbie shared that her wish was to get a new tattoo, the team knew they needed to help, and were so thrilled to make it happen.
“Our wishing tree initiative is a great way for residents to share their dreams, passions, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to make these a reality.
“Debbie had a fantastic experience and is delighted with her new piece of art – she can’t take her eyes off it.
“I’d like to extend a big thank you to the team here at the home, as well as Stuart at The Tattoo Room for making Debbie’s dreams come true – she’s already planning her next tattoo.”
