PUPILS from a primary school visited the Houses of Parliament to spread awareness of the issue of climate justice.
Two pupils from St Peter’s Primary, in Sible Hedingham, took their climate change message to the nation’s capital.
It was part of the Get Creative for Climate Justice project at the Houses of Parliament.
The event, organised by Oxfam and hosted by Labour MP Rushanara Ali, was the culmination of a climate justice project in which many schools from around the country participated.
Children were encouraged to use their artwork to showcase the message of climate justice - the fact that climate change is disproportionately affecting the world's poorer nations.
Year 6 pupils Lucy Crawford and Daniel Havers were selected from hundreds of young applicants to help curate the exhibition as parliamentary guides.
They spoke to MPs about the work being exhibited and about their climate change and climate justice learning at school.
Deputy headteacher Chris Eynon said that the children "were fantastic ambassadors for our school community" and showed "maturity and confidence beyond their years" during the event.
He added: "I hope the experience will give the children the confidence to make their voices heard and to show them that their opinions matter."
