A SCHOOL has been recognised for its commitment to children's rights.
Holy Trinity Primary School has been awarded the Silver Rights Respecting School Award by Unicef UK.
Unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award is given to schools which show commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others in school.
Silver is given to schools that make excellent progress towards embedding the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child into its ethos and curriculum.
Holy Trinity headteacher Sarah Rowe, said: “I am so proud of my school community for achieving the silver accreditation in less than a year.
"There has been a positive impact from working towards the award on pupils and the school as a whole, and we will continue to place importance on respectful attitudes as well as putting children’s rights at the heart of our fantastic school."
Unicef spokesman Martin Russell said: “It is fabulous to see children from Holy Trinity learning about children’s rights and developing their skills as active global citizens.
"We look forward to supporting the school community in their journey towards the gold award.”
