A HALSTEAD restaurant has been crowned one of the best in the country at a set of prestigious awards.
Spice Zone, in Head Street, has been awarded Takeaway of the Year at the Asian Curry Awards following a ceremony at the Grosvenor House in London on Sunday.
Established in 1999, the family-run business is a very popular eatery in the town.
Managing director of Spice Zone Forhad Hussain was delighted with the win.
He said: “I am beyond grateful and humbled by the incredible news of Spice Zone being awarded Takeaway of the Year 2023 at the Asian Curry Awards.
“This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment of our exceptional team.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to each member of our team who has contributed tirelessly to make Spice Zone what it is today. Your passion and enthusiasm have truly set us apart.
“To our cherished customers, thank you for your continuous support. Spice Zone wouldn't be special without each one of you.
“Your loyalty is the driving force behind our commitment to delivering exceptional service and culinary experiences.
“This recognition fills me with immense joy, and I am excited about the journey ahead. We are dedicated to maintaining the same level of enthusiasm and commitment in serving you.
“Thank you for being an integral part of the Spice Zone family.”
Dubbed the “Curry Oscars”, they are the biggest event in the Asian culinary calendar.
The list of more than 200 venues across the country was whittled down to the top hundred by online votes from members of the spice-loving public, which decided the finalists.
These were then assessed by a panel of judges from the Asian Catering Federation who determined the category winners.
Spice Zone prides itself on presenting various dishes as a sample of the variety of classic south Asian food found across the Indian sub-continent.
The business says its menu is “influenced by traditional Indian” and contains “perfected dishes” created by its team of chefs who “demand only the best”.
