A VILLAGE post office could be moved to a new shop after the current lease is due to expire.
Proposals have been made by the Post Office to move the current Castle Hedingham Post Office to a nearby village shop.
The current site is at 7, St James Street, and is due to have its lease expire.
It is proposed to move it to the Village Shop, at 5 St James Street.
The plans to move the site are being done to “safeguard the service.”
A spokesman said: “It would continue to be operated by the existing postmaster at the community-run shop.
“The lease for the current premises is due to expire and to safeguard service it is proposed to move to the nearby premises in the same road.
“The opening hours would remain as Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm. The same products and services would be available.
“Consultation is now open with the opportunity to give feedback on the move and access into and within the store will close on May 30.”
