WANNABE knights enjoyed learning the trade as a special event was staged at Hedingham Castle.
The venue hosted its Knight School event, which saw children take part in some historic half term fun.
The event was held over three days with plenty of families coming along to take part.
Marketing Manager Steffi Dry said: “This is the second time Knight School has come to Hedingham Castle and it's been very popular this time round.
"It is also held in a similar format at Norwich Castle, run by Lee Warden, Project Learning and Engagement Officer for Norwich Castle, who also ran this week's event.
"It's always a bit nerve-wracking putting on new events and we have been so thrilled with the uptake and positive feedback.”
Mr Warden echoed this, saying: “We’ve had a great response from visitors and have had all ages take part in the sessions together.
“Sword fighting is an activity which captures the imagination of all ages and allows for a meaningful connection to understand history.”
There is also plenty more coming up at Hedingham Castle to enjoy.
Steffi said: “Next up on the calendar is a variety of Easter events including a Fairy Door trail for little one, four and under, and a Nature Trail for older children.
“We have our first joust of the year over Easter weekend, on April 9 and 10 with the Knights of Middle England.
“This is one of our most popular events of the year and is a fantastic day out for everyone.
"Coming up throughout the year we have two more jousts in May and August, lots of music, theatre, open-air cinema, and a brand new event in May where we'll be turning Hedingham into Camelot complete with Knights of the Round Table!.
“Our events are vital for keeping the castle going and we are hugely grateful for the continued support of the local community and those who travel from further afield to visit.”
