CARE home residents in Halstead have been passing on their advice to the younger generation as part of a nationwide initiative.
Residents at Colne View, on Dame Mary Walk, have been sharing advice on making the move from college to work with young team members at the Drapers Hotel, in Earls Colne, as part of a new intergenerational project – Wisdom Booths.
The initiative sees homes share their advice with younger generations after a national survey found 88 per cent of people nationwide are grateful for what they have been told by their elders and 56 per cent will always rely on them for advice, regardless of how old they are.
Residents were invited to the hotel for a special lunch, where they were joined by three of the hotel’s youngest team members to share their tips and advice as they prepare to graduate from college and move into the world of work.
Care home manager Monica Boldeata said: “It was wonderful to see residents bonding with the team members at the Drapers Hotel when we visited the restaurant to share some words of wisdom on preparing for the future.
“Although it has been a long time since residents studied and joined the world of work themselves, it’s been fantastic to share their wise words, and also discuss how careers have changed over the years.
“Residents loved hearing about their plans and sharing their top tips for successful careers.”
