A WOMAN has been taken to hospital following a collision with a lamppost and wall.
Multiple emergency services swarmed to Colchester Road in Halstead today.
Essex Police officers were called to the road at about 10am and were later joined by Essex Fire and the East of England Ambulance service.
Fire crews from Halstead and Wethersfield attended and found a car had collided with a lamppost and wall and a woman was trapped.
They used specialist cutting equipment to rescue her and left her in the care of the Ambulance Service at 11.45am.
The ambulance service later confirmed the pedestrian was transported to Colchester General Hospital for “further assessment and care”.
Police also confirmed the road was closed during the incident and Highways England was called to deal with damage to a lamppost.
As a result, traffic was building heavily across the town, with some reporting queues of 30 to 40 minutes.
Roads affected included Fenn Road and Colne Road with gridlocks hitting the whole area.
First Bus also confirmed their number 88 service was diverted via Fenn Road and Head Street in both directions until further notice, warning od delays on the service and apologising for the inconvenience.
The road was later re-opened at about 12:45pm.
