THEATRE bosses have announced the launch of a new film club.
Halstead's Empire Theatre has revealed it will launch the Colnes Film Club next week.
The club is a group of people who have been meeting monthly on the second Wednesday evening of each month at the Five Bells pub in Colne Engaine since June 2021.
Now the theatre has adopted the club, with screenings at the cinema.
Coming on Wednesday, September 28, doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
A spokesman said: “The concept is simple - you watch the chosen film at your leisure then get together as a group to discuss the film.
“The film club is pleased to collaborate with the Halstead Empire Cinema with the opportunity to access a wider choice of titles and film genres and to get the full cinema experience.
“Each month's film title will be shown at the Empire on the fourth Wednesday of the preceding month.
“Screenings are open to the general public who are welcome to join the discussions two weeks later or form a film club group of their own.”
To attend, it will cost visitors £5 per ticket with the follow-up meeting at the Five Bells pub.
The theatre has also revealed the first series of films to be reviewed.
The Railway Man is on September 28.
Rated 15, it follows a former British Army officer who was tortured as a prisoner of war at a Japanese labour camp during World War II.
He discovers the man responsible for much of his ill-treatment is still alive and sets out to confront him.
The film stars Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman and Stellan Skarsgård
On October 26 is Life of Pi, a PG-rated film which sees a young man survive a disaster at sea.
He is hurled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery.
While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor - a fearsome Bengal tiger.
It stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan and Adil Hussain
Another Round is on November 23.
Rated 12, it sees four high school teachers consume alcohol on a daily basis to see how it affects their social and professional lives, starring Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen and Magnus Millang.
