DRIVERS face diversions when a key road is shut this weekend.
Poole Street, in Great Yeldham, is scheduled to close on September 24.
The A1017 road links Great Yeldham to villages to the south such as Sible Hedingham and Gosfield.
Poole Street will shut from south-east of its junction with Toppesfield Road.
The closure is expected to last two days and is required for the safety of the public and workforce while sheet piling installation works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
In an official diversion put forward by Essex Highways, drivers could have to travel nearly 40 miles to bypass the closure, but shorter routes may be available.
This would see traffic diverted into Suffolk, then through Sudbury and Halstead before heading back up their A1017 through Gosfield and Sible Hedingham and vice versa.
