Halstead Town FC's women’s football team is looking for new players ahead of the new season, hoping the Lionesses’ victory will spur people into joining.
Sarah Jamieson is a player for the team, which only had its first season last year.
She said: “There were 16 of us training on Tuesday minus me, and we want to get a strong squad together because some cannot commit to every weekend.
“We accept all abilities - you just have to be 16 or older.
“We have some beginners, some more experienced and some that haven’t played in a while that want to get back into it.
“We train on Monday nights from 8pm to 9pm at Halstead Leisure Centre, and people can just turn up.”
The team plays in the Essex County Women’s Football League Division Two and has a set of friendlies coming up before the season starts in September.
Sarah hopes women will be inspired to get involved off the back of the success of the Lionesses.
She said: “Seeing how well they did and everyone getting behind them, it was an inspiration to everyone, not just girls.
“They’ve got a game against the USA which sold out in 24 hours, Arsenal just sold all their season tickets for the first time ever - it’s amazing.
“It brings the whole country together and makes it all about community.
“That is what we feel our football team is about. Now we want to get together and make a success of the whole thing.
“We are there to play football and want to win, but it’s working together, making friends and building something that is special.”
