A MANAGER has won a huge holiday prize after entering a competition on national radio.
Kayleigh Wright, practice manager at Wardale Williams opticians in Halstead, won an all-expenses paid trip to Italy as part of a competition on Virgin Radio.
As a regular radio listener, Kayleigh decided to enter the competition for fun, not thinking she would go on and win.
The ‘Top of the Crofts’ competition on Chris Evans’ breakfast show, sees contestants mimic F1 commentator David Croft, providing a short commentary on a topic of their choice.
Kayleigh chose to commentate on the signature mugs that the team at Wardale William use.

She said: “I have been listening to Chris Evans for years, and I thought it would be a bit of fun to enter the competition.
“The challenge was to commentate on something that is typically quite mundane and boring, so I thought what I do every day, and if I am first at work, I make everyone’s drinks.
“So, I got everyone’s mugs out and did a recording.
“I played it back, thought it was ok, and so I sent it in and forgot about it really.
“It was only when a colleague told me that she thought she heard me on the radio that I remembered it.”

Chris Evans and the other judges on the show were unanimous in awarding Kayleigh the top prize, with Chris saying she was “very genuine and very authentic”.
Kayleigh added: “I couldn’t believe it; I was in the store with our lovely cleaner when they announced the winner live.
“We were jumping for joy, and I then went on to speak to Chris on his show, which was just so surreal.”
Kayleigh won an all-expenses paid trip to Italy to watch the Italian Grand Prix in September with Sky Sports F1.
She said: “It is four nights, in a hotel in the centre of Milan. The flights are paid for, accommodation is sorted, and we get free transfers to and from the racetrack, with hospitality tickets and £200 spending money on top, it is amazing.
“I am getting into F1, but my partner loves it, so we are very excited.”
