A COUNCILLOR says she is 'shocked' after discovering a burning pile of fly-tipped rubbish while walking with residents.
Hedingham councillor Joanne Beavis was out on a walk with residents in her ward when they discovered a pile of burning rubbish in Sible Hedingham.
They had stumbled upon the pile of rubbish on Devils Road last week.
Braintree Council are said to be taking immediate action against the rubbish to remove it from the area.
Councillor Beavis is now calling for a police investigation into the incident in a bid to catch the culprits.
She said:"I discovered the fly-tipping whilst out walking with residents.
"It was so shocking to see such a huge fly-tip in such a beautiful and remote part of Sible Hedingham.
"This issue has upset local residents especially those, like me, who found the mess which was partly on fire.
"Braintree District Council is taking immediate action to remove the fly-tipping and I have requested a Police investigation is carried out as I am sure someone must be able to offer up further important information on the issue.
"There is no excuse for this behaviour anywhere is the Braintree District and I sincerely hope those responsible are found and fined.
"I hope to be able to update local residents on this issue shortly".
