AN animal shelter rehomed more than 700 pets after a successful year coming out of the pandemic.

Danaher Animal Home, in Wethersfield, continued to operate during the crisis, despite losing more than £100,000.

A spokesman said: “During 2021 we rehomed 273 cats, 206 dogs and 242 small animals.

“We are now looking forward to everything continuing during 2022 and we could not continue without everyone’s continued support.

“During the pandemic Danaher suffered a significant financial loss with our charity shops having to close during the lockdowns.

“They fund 50 per cent of our running costs, and with this and the other fundraising events we could not hold, the home suffered a loss of £120,000 in 2020.

“Once the world started to return to some normality, rehoming recommenced.”

Danaher has a huge variety of animals that staff are looking to find forever homes for.

From dogs and cats to mice and birds, they are always on the look-out for new owners for homeless pets.

Each year the shelter rehomes hundreds of lost, abandoned or ill-treated animals.

While affiliated with the RSPCA, it is an entirely self-funding charity which could not exist without supporters and volunteers.
