THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised through the Poppy Appeal in Earls Colne and White Colne.
Organisers of the Royal British Legion appeal have revealed the total raised after this year’s event comes to £7,369.12.
The total acquired has returned to a similar level to that which was gathered pre-pandemic.
In 2019, £7,400.23 was raised, with the highest ever total of £9,387.28 raised on the centennial year of the end of the Great War in 2018.
However, this year’s grand total was the third highest total ever raised as part of the appeal.
The High Street Co-op had a collection point, which combined with volunteers and checkout tins collected £4,362.13.
Church collections totalled £338.51, with tins in shops and other outlets raising £1,100.
Earls Colne Primary School raised the most in a single tin with £136.69, and the regular coffee morning fund raiser took in £300.
Ian Allman, organiser of the Poppy Appeal, has given thanks to all those involved.
He said: “This total far exceeds my expectation.
“I give a big thank you to all the volunteers who help each year make this appeal possible in our two villages.”
