A KIND-HEARTED young litter picker has taken matters into his own hands in order to help the area.
Isaac Vincent, nine, took part in the Green Heart programme and went with his family, cleaning up rubbish from streets, parks and other open spaces around Coldnailhurst Avenue in Braintree.
His mum Patricia said: “He started doing it a little while ago completely off of his own bat.
“We’ve had our dog over a year now and you don’t realise how much rubbish there is around the town until you go on regular walks. He just really wanted to do something about it and I am really proud of him.”
They registered with the green community in September, in order to get proper equipment to help Issac in his efforts to help the environment.
Issac said: “When I was in Year 4 and 3 my friend started litter picking and we got more involved.
“The world is getting destroyed by pollution, it is really bad at the moment. I just really wanted to help the planet.”

Wendy Schmitt, Braintree councillor responsible for environment, said: “Isaac is a true role model and is a testament to all our Green Heart Champions who give up their time to clear rubbish from our streets, parks and open spaces.”
“Whether it’s picking up a few pieces whilst walking the dog or on the school run or a more organised activity, litter picking offers a great opportunity to get outside and do something positive for the local community and the environment.
“We are always happy to help provide support to those who want to sign up to the Green Heart programme and litter pick in their local area so those needing equipment or sacks just needs to get in touch with Braintree District Council to arrange this.”
Residents can join in with the programme to help keep the district clean and tidy.
