THE number of people being treated in hospital for Covid has fallen.
The Mid and South Essex NHS Trust was caring for 86 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday, latest figures show.
NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 was down from 93 on the same day the previous week.
The number of beds at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 increased by 39 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 62.
The figures also show 80 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in the week to September 19 - down from 85 in the previous seven days.
The East Suffolk and North Essex Trust, which runs Colchester and Ipswich hospitals, was caring for 32 coronavirus patients as of Tuesday - down from 43 on the same day the previous week.
Across England there were 5,543 people in hospital with Covid as of September 21, with 774 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.
The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised nationally has decreased by six per cent in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 10 per cent.
