REAL ale fans can look forward to one of the region’s most popular beer festivals again after organisers gave it the green light to go ahead.

The Chappel Beer Festival is set to take place this year following months of speculation.

It was uncertain if the event would take place due to pandemic restriction fears.

It comes after last year’s festival was axed by organisers because of the coronavirus pandemic.

But it has now been confirmed by Camra and the East Anglian Railway Museum, at Chappel and Wakes Colne Station, that the festival will go ahead.

This year’s festival will be smaller due to there being less time to organise the event, as well as making it Covid-safe.

As a result, all the beer and ciders on offer will be stationed in the museum’s goods shed, there will be no live music, no designated campsite and no souvenir festival glasses, with the organisers using glasses from previous years.

Admission to the festival will be entirely by pre-purchased tickets and there will be a one-way system for service at the bars.

There will also be no field or play area for families.

However, organisers say there will still be more than 100 beers to try as well as 24 ciders and perries.

The festival will run over the course of five days, starting on Tuesday, September 7 and ending on Saturday, September 11.

Tickets for the festival start at £16 (£12 for Camra and East Anglian Railway Museum members), including £10 worth of beer vouchers.
