An HISTORIC landmark is preparing for a event-filled summer following the easing of coronavirus restrictions this week.

The move is a relief for many businesses and venues, and already one of the Halstead area’s most iconic landmarks is gearing up for a packed summer.

Hedingham Castle is looking to hold weddings once again, as well as a series of crowd-pulling attractions.

These include the castle’s famous jousting days, which attract huge crowds and see the castle return to its medieval glory for an action-packed fun day out.

The upcoming EA festival, which is scheduled for the end of July, is also expected to go ahead, along with a number of Pantaloons theatre productions as well as the return of the castle’s escape rooms.

A spokesman for the castle said: “We are immensely excited to be progressing to the next stage of easing and are looking forward to a fun-filled summer of weddings and events ahead.

“We are busy getting everything in place for our first wedding open day on Sunday, May 23, as well as the three-day joust weekend for the bank holiday, which is always a popular open-air event in front of the castle, so we are hopeful that this year’s won’t be too dissimilar to previous jousts.

“As always, the safety of our team and visitors is paramount and we are working hard to ensure a safe reopening for all.”
