TWO people had to be freed from a wrecked car by emergency services after it rolled on to its roof.
Firefighters from Halstead were called to Sudbury Road, Castle Hedingham on Monday after reports that two people were trapped in a wrecked car.
Fire teams arrived at 2.08pm to find the car on its roof in a field.
Ambulance crews were also there and helped firefighters to stabilise and right the car.
Both the driver and passenger were freed without using cutting equipment at 2.59pm and carried to ambulances.
Crew Manager Lee Bacon said: "The vehicle had left the road and continued some distance across a field before landing on its roof.
"It made the rescue more difficult because crews had to carry the equipment across the field and carry the casualties back, but they worked really well with the ambulance crews."
It is not believed either the driver or their passenger suffered serious injuries.
While the exact circumstances of the crash are not known, it was revealed that the car left the road and travelled for some distance before coming to a stop on its roof.
The hatchback was actually found by emergency crews around a quarter of a mile away from the road.
With the occupants freed, Essex Police worked to clear up the wreckage.
The terrain made it difficult for officers and they were forced to enlist the help of a nearby farmer.
Using a forklift crane, which usually used for hay bales, the car was lifted back to the road where a low loader was ready to take it away.
