AN off-road motorcycle club has added to the thousands of pounds it has already raised for a children’s charity following a high-octane racing event held in Gosfield
The Pre 65 Motocross Club, founded in 1981 with the aim of preserving the use of classic scramblers, held a traditional motorcycle scramble on the land next to Great Spansey Wood.
The group holds ten meetings a year across the East of England and this was the seventh year in a row the horde of speedy bikers, some of which are over the age of 80, have come to Halstead.
This year’s event generated £1,000 in funds that will now be donated to Gt Ormond Street Hospital, mirroring the amount the extreme sportsman contributed to the charity last year.
Treasurer of the Pre 65 Motocross Club Lesley Willmore, 55, said: “Watching the old bikes from the 1960s race is great fun and most of the riders are also from the 60s.
“The event went very smoothly and as always the atmosphere was very exciting.”
