A care home has opened a new coffee lounge and communal space for residents and their loved ones.
The new facility was officially unveiled by councillors Andy Munday and Mick Radley, mayor and deputy mayor of Halstead, at Halstead Hall, in Braintree Road, Halstead, last Thursday (Aug 2).
The lounge is part of phase one of the refurbishment works being completed by new owners Stow Healthcare at the home, which used to be Attwood's Manor.
Roger Catchpole, director of Stow Healthcare, said: "This new coffee lounge is a fantastic addition to the home and has transformed a disused space into a resource our residents can truly benefit from.
"Having developed similar coffee lounges at our other homes, we have noted a significant increase in social interactions amongst residents and are hoping this improves the lives of residents at Halstead Hall.”
The bright communal area will serve hot drinks a fresh confectionary made by Halstead Hall's catering team.
Mr Munday said: "I was delighted to be able to visit Halstead Hall to open the new coffee lounge.
"It is obvious that new owners, Stow Healthcare, are committed to investing in the home and are passionate about raising the standards of care at the home."
Several other refurbishment projects are planned for Halstead Hall, and Mr Radley said the home has "great potential" going forward.
Stow Heathcare saved Attwood's Manor from closure after the previously independent home was rated inadequate by the Care Quality Commission.
