FIREFIGHTERS were called after a combine harvester caught alight.
Crews from Colchester and Halstead attended the incident in Colne Road, Bures, at 2.41pm yesterday.
On arrival, they found the vehicle was completely alight and the fire had also engulfed an area of crops spanning around one and a half acres.
By 4pm, the fire was almost completely out, with one fire crew staying at the scene for around an hour to dampen down remaining hot spots and ensure there was no risk of re-ignition.
The cause of the fire was found to be a mechanical fault.
