A LUCKY Halstead boy was given the opportunity to grill Colchester United manager John McGreal.

Finley ‘Streaky’ Bacon, 10, of Cherry Tree Close, was given the opportunity to go head-to-head with the boss after the club spotted him chanting in the crowd on a Twitter video.

The Colchester United regular and St Andrews School student quizzed him on the season ahead and his favourite chants from the stands. Finley said: “I really enjoyed it.

"It was a really good experience to get meet him in real life, and ask him all about Colchester United and his plans.

“I first went to a Colchester game a few years ago and have been a huge fan since. I was really excited for it, it was definitely the favourite part of my summer holidays.

“I told all my friends at school about it and they think I was really lucky and they are all going to watch the video on YouTube.”

Finley’s mum, Tracy, uploaded a video of Finley chanting in the crowd with the caption ‘probably your youngest, louder fan’, and was instructed to e-mail the media team to arrange the interview.

Tracy, said: “He is a huge Colchester United fan so he loved every minute of it. It really was brilliant, he wrote all the questions himself and loved getting the chance to sit down with the manager.

“I took a short video one week of Finley chanting in the crowd and trying to boost the crowd, I posted it on Twitter and tagged Colchester United and then the media officer messaged me.

"Finley didn’t have to think twice about it. He got to meet a few players beforehand and they signed a shirt for him. It was a fantastic experience that he really enjoyed.”
