A business owner has dismissed rumours he plans to sell his land to travellers.
Paul Thrower, who owns the timber yard in Queen Street in Sible Hedingham, said that to his knowledge he had not been approached by travellers.
He said: “At the moment it isn’t sold and I am still here. When I do sell it what the person is going to do with it is up to them.
“I have had a couple of people interested and one has submitted a bid. The council wanted it but they didn’t want to pay anything.”
The land, which is about two and a half acres and close to the humpback bridge over the River Colne, is a brownfield site.
However, Mr Thrower said it is prone to flooding.
He said: “What sort of development you could get on here I don’t know because we are right by the river."
