A diabetic mum is supporting a national campaign to raise awareness of the condition.

Michaela Bellingham, 40, of Earls Colne, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was just 13 years old.

She had been trying to hide the symptoms from her mum, despite her weight falling to just four and a half stone, drinking large quantities of coke and struggling to walk up the stairs.

It was only when she collapsed and slipped into a coma that she was rushed to hospital and diagnosed.
