Concrete bollards have been installed to restrict access to an empty factory site that was occupied by travellers.
Four caravans arrived on the former Premdor site in Swan Street, Sible Hedingham, at the beginning of last week.
Negotiations began with the family in an effort to persuade them to move on and lawyers were put on standby in the event that an agreement could not be struck and a formal eviction order would be needed.
But the travellers eventually left voluntarily last Thursday afternoon.
Since the travellers left, efforts have been made to secure the site, which Bloor Homes hopes to transform into a development of 194 homes.
Three two-tonne concrete bollards, loaned by Barry Ives Haulage, on the nearby Rippers Court Industrial Estate, were placed behind the gates to prevent caravans accessing the site in the future.
