HUGHES David Local Musician, Historian and Author David Hughes has passed away aged 72. He died peacefully in hospital, after a brief illness. David was known for his folk singer-songwriter career, writing the local history book "The Maldonians" and was latterly known as the iconic "Dengie Boy", as far afield as Southminster, and Burnham-on-Crouch. David loved Maldon and spent most of his life in the area. He is survived by his two children, Taylor and Ruby, his brother Ian, and niece, Lilli. The funeral will take place at St Mary's Church, Maldon on the 18th of May, at 12:30, followed by a private cremation. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to be directed to the Garden Project at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, who cared for David before he passed.
