Halstead Road Runners will be celebrating a marathon anniversary with a new event.
The running club will be staging a 30-mile “ultra marathon” to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their Halstead and Essex Marathon in 2009.
Nathan Roulson, race director, said: “The organising committee wanted to add something special to mark our 15th event."
The ultra marathon will run on the same course as the marathon on May 10, but will start at 9:45am shortly before the main race at 10am.
Competitors will run the full marathon course plus an additional four mile loop.
Ultra entries will be limited to about 40 runners.
Full details of the entry procedure will be announced on www.HalsteadAndEssexMarathon.co.uk on Friday.
Please note runners will need to enter the marathon before applying for a place in the ultra marathon.
