Brave staff members at a housing association are planning a hair-raising fundraiser in aid of a mental health charity.

Greenfields Community Housing employees Hannah Woods and Mitchell Simmons will both be braving shaves of different kinds to raise money for Mid and North Essex Mind.

Customer service advisor Ms Woods is having her head shaved, and on the same day as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, Friday, May 18, colleague Mr Simmons will have his legs waxed.

Ms Woods said: "Myself and others I know have personal experience with dealing with mental health problems, so it’s something I am passionate about supporting and I’m buzzing for my buzz-cut."

The pair are hoping to raise £500 for the charity, which provides mental health services and support for residents living in our area.

Mr Simmons said: "Like Hannah, mental health is something that is close to mine and my family member’s hearts, and I’m proud to be doing this alongside my brave colleague.

"I haven’t previously had anything waxed before, but I will soon find out how high my pain threshold is, and am happy for others to come along to watch and find out at the same time I do."

Skilled volunteers are needed to assist with the waxing and shaving, email amanda.bhavnani@Greenfieldsch.org.uk if you can help.
